Pinzon Hemstitch 400-Thread-Count Egyptian Cotton Sateen Queen Sheet Set, Smokey Blue
Made from 100-percent Egyptian cotton in a 400-thread-count Sateen weave, these sheets offer a smooth surface with an understated luster, and they pair well with both solid and patterned bedding. Closely woven with single-ply yarns, the fabric offers a lighter weight and flexible drape for attractive display. Pieces in Pinzon's Hemstitch collection feature hems set off with lovely stitching that creates an elegant linked chain effect. Coordinating duvet-and-sham sets, as well as extra pillowcase sets, are available to pair with these sheets, giving bedrooms a more complete, tailored look.

Available in a choice of colors and sizes, the Queen set offered here includes an 100-by-112-inch flat sheet, 60-by-80-inch fitted sheet, and two 20-by-31-inch Standard pillowcases. The flat sheet and pillowcases feature six-inch hems, and the fitted sheet has elastic all around to fit snugly on mattresses up to 18 inches deep. The set is imported. Recommend washing before first use; machine washed in cold and tumble dried on low.

Fabric Definitions
Egyptian Cotton: Egyptian cotton is used to make some of the highest quality linens in the world, including sumptuously soft bath and bed linens. Egyptian cotton is grown to produce a longer staple, or fiber, than generic cotton, and the longer and finer a cotton staple is, the better able it is to be spun into finer count yarns, which in turn can be knitted or woven into soft, fine, and luxurious fabrics. The staple length in Egyptian cotton averages 1-1/8 to 1-1/2 inches, but can reach over 2-1/4 inches, which is twice the size of a generic cotton fiber. Products which highlight construction of Egyptian cotton are usually referring to the extra-long-staple cotton produced largely in the Nile River Valley. The humidity and rich soil around the Nile delta produce especially long cotton fibers, which are fine and vary from a light cream to dark tan color. Egyptian cotton is strong, durable, and if cared for properly, will be long lasting.

Sateen: Sateen fabric has a soft, satin-like finish resulting from a four-over-one thread weave. Standard weaves, like percale, use a one-over, one-under stitch. The four-over weave puts more threads nearer the surface, resulting in a softer, warmer surface. Sateen fabrics are most often made of mercerized cotton, but can be made of other fabrics, including cotton blends, polyester, and rayon. Mercerized threads give sateen fabrics a higher luster. Mercerization, named for process-creator John Mercer, involves treating threads with a cold concentrated sodium hydroxide solution. Mercerization also increases strength, dyeability, and resistance to mildew, as well as reduces lint. Sateens can be produced in light and heavy weights, and are ideal for bedding.

Soft, comfortable, beautiful, good fit
I've had these sheets (white/queen) for a few months now and am very happy with them. They were soft out of the box but are getting more comfortable with each wash. I haven't noticed any pilling. They have a light sheen and the hemstitch detailing is a nice touch. If you have a thick mattress, these are the sheets for you. My mattress has a small pillowtop, and I have some extra material to tuck in around the edges of the fitted sheet, so these sheets will fit even the deepest mattress. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set for myself, and they also would make a nice housewarming or wedding gift.

Scratchy sheets? SOAK THEM!
These sheets come HEAVILY starched and, therefore, are incredibly scratchy, as other reviewers have noted. Simply washing them won't get the starch out. I washed them once and almost returned them. They were awful! Then, I read the other reviews and figured that the sheets much be scratchy from the starch (how else could cotton be scratchy?). I soaked them in cold water for 2 hours with salt to set the color. Then, I added fabric softener and let them soak for another two hours. After this, the sheets were wonderful - softest sheets I've ever owned! After soaking and washing, I'd give them five stars, but I downgraded them for having to work to get the starch out.
I sleep like a baby in these
There's nothing better than crawling into a clean, soft bed at night so I am always buying more and more sheets. If I get lazy and don't do my laundry every week at least I can change them and still be comfortable - and with the Amazon prices on high quality sheets it's easy to get some nice sets in a wide array of colors and finished. Lately I have been enjoying satin and modal sheets and flannel in winter but these are wonderful as well - the simplicity of design and the added hemstitching at pillow and flat sheet hem add a nice touch. It's tough buying sheets online since one has to imagine what they feel like and depend on reviews but it beats paying that extra hundred bucks stores charge. I am going to order these in more colors since I really enjoy them.

I rarely get anything under the 300 thread count, the higher the count the smoother the fabric, the weave is tighter since there are more threads per square inch and the sheets get softer the more you wash them. This...

Very Impressed
It is a beautiful duvet cover set. The sateen has a nice sheen but does not look "shiny cheap" as some satin or sateen fabrics do. The mocha color looks amazing in my room. When I think of "mocha" I think dark.. this mocha has quite a bit of milk in it which I prefer (lighter color).

Good:

- Looks much more expensive than it is
- Washes well
- No/minimal loose or hanging threads
- The buttons are hidden at the opening of the duvet as it buttons on the inside

Could Improve:

- There are no ties or straps inside the duvet cover that holds the comforter in place. If you've ever used a duvet cover, you know this is a handy feature.

Need to know:

- When I unwrapped the set it had taken on a strong scent of the plastic it was wrapped in. If you are planning on purchasing and throwing immediately on a bed, you will need to wash it or air it out first.
- The picture looks as though the pleating is in a...

I Have a Big Girl Bed
This is the nicest duvet cover set I have! I was so excited when it came that I put it right on the bed and it looked fantastic. And it was soooooo comfortable. My husband came upstairs and proclaimed that we'd stolen someones bed from a magazine.

The color of the satiny cloth is cocoay, there is a thick tuxedo pleating border, and heavy duty buttons to help lock the duvet in place. This queen size fit my duvet and bed very well. We've purchased other duvet covers in the past which have been ill fitting or didn't have a bottom that buttoned(which is just silly). Even after I laundered it, the duvet kept its sheen. It was a bit wrinkly when I next put it on the bed and I was disappointed, but within a day or two it seemed to smooth itself back out and even the pleating looks great. And here I thought I'd have to iron it which really would have lowered the stars on this review as I do not like ironing. The shams easily slip onto your pillows and fit even a standard size...
Item does not match picture!!!!
The one thing that everyone who is contemplating buying this set needs to know is that the duvet cover is actually all one color - a very dark, deep gray (with a small hint of blue). In the picture, it appears that the cover is lighter in the middle of and outside of the pleats, which is very deceiving and inaccurate. If you read this review, are ok with the fact that the color differs from the picture, and still want to purchase this product, then you'll be happy with the construction. It's very sturdy, heavy (thick), and well made, and although I wouldn't call it plush or overly soft, the texture of the sheets and pillow covers are very comfortable.

Great out of the package, but wrinkled out of the dryer....
The Pinzon 400-Thread-Count 100% Egyptian Cotton Hemstitch Duvet Set feels like heaven just out of the package. It reminds me of the type you see at 5-star hotels, and the picture in the Amazon ad reinforces that layered design ideal.

But something changes when you launder this set. All of a sudden the softness is gone and the pieces become super wrinkled. This set needs to be ironed after being dried in an electric clothes dryer. (In the spring, when I resume drying bedding on my outside clothes line; perhaps this duvet set will be wrinkle free and will not need to be ironed.)

A bit of trivia: some folks call it a duvet, others call it a duvet cover. Even in this Amazon description, the terms are used interchangeably. Not everyone understands the terms. This set includes a duvet (duvet cover) and two shams. The duvet (or duvet cover) is a large two-sided piece that has no filling. You can slip it over any blanket or comforter you already own. One side...

Soft, supple, wrinkled and a tad on the small size
I ordered two of these...a king size and a queen/full set. Both sets contain the duvet cover and two shams. The king is a standard king set and didn't work well for my oversized comforters or spreads. The queen/full is also standard sizing and I found it a bit cumbersome to deal with the duvet related to extra large comforters like feather filled.

To be fair, this IS a full/queen set so the sizing is accurate and I did not notice shrikage when washed. However, if you have an overly thick comforter or spread like I do then it will fit the full size much better than queeen. Thinner queen spreads, quilts or comforters should be fine as it does run true to size - just not with a great deal of additional space for extra large comforters such as a feather filled one (which was my main interest in this product). Outside of the sizing issue, this is a well made product with a VERY nice color - I'm often hesitate to go with eggshell as it often has an ugly brownish tint to it...no...
not that happy
What I was attracted to was the color and the photo of the product.
When I received my shipment I was excited to use my new sheets. I had also purchased in the same order the duvet and pillow covers.
I was disappointed when I washed them. I washed them in cold water with a mild detergent. Placed them in the dryer w/ fabric softening sheets.
When I went to remove them they were very wrinkled and had a very crunchy feel. I am not sure if htey are what they are advertised to be. I have other "high count" sheets and they never look like or feel this way.

Pinzon Hotel Stitch 400-Thread-Count Egyptian Cotton Sateen Full/Queen Duvet Cover, Silver Blue
Enjoy the silkiness of Egyptian cotton in a 400-thread-count sateen weave. The Pinzon Hotel Stitch duvet is woven of double-ply Egyptian cotton yarns, giving it a flexible drape for a more attractive display. On the bottom and both sides, the white duvet features two colored rows of satin stitching to offset a 2-inch flange. It is finished with a hidden button closure in a sturdy, 2-inch placket on the back. Available in a choice of sizes and colors, the duvet is made to coordinate with sheets and other pieces in the Hotel Stitch Collection, but will go with most Pinzon bedding and existing home linens. The Queen size measures 88 by 88 inches. The duvet is imported and safe to clean at home in the washer and dryer. For the best care, machine wash in cold water and dry using a low-heat setting. Avoid the use of chlorine bleaches.

Love it!
This duvet is exactly what I wanted and exactly as listed. Beautiful, soft, sturdy. De-wrinkling tip: Try spritzing lightly with a bottle of plain water, sometimes I add a few drops of Downy, or you could use the more expensive scented linen sprays. Just spray lightly & run your hand across it to smooth. Wrinkles will fall out before your eyes. This works for curtains, slip covers, just about anything that can be machine washed.

I really like this
So I ordered this duvet cover and after one night it has been great. The material is thick and feels a little heavy so this works great for me. If you're worried about wrinkles, well keep worrying because this bad boy will wrinkle up pretty good (after 1 wash/dry its got wrinkles just about everywhere) but I've definately seen much much worse. All in all I am happy with this, it is simple, looks classy and feels very nice.
Looks like new after more than a year
I have had two sheet sets, all pillows and duvet cover in taupe (with the single band of embroidery) for more than a year. I rotate them weekly and have had no problem with unraveling of the embroidery. I do not wash in hot water, dry on moderate heat, fold while warm and have had no issues with wrinkling. I did replace one pillowcase that accidently got washed in hot water with some towels and shrank.
